Change In Zapier - How To Create Video From Template

Wondering about the changes to the Zapier integration. You used to be able to make a video from a dynamic template and that option seems to be gone.

Now you can only select a “Workflow” or “Ingest a File”… How would I go about create a video from one of my templates like the old Zapier integration?

Hi @justin,

We decided to simplify Zapier to create videos through our new Workflow tool. We’ve written an article to show you how to do this:

Would love to hear your thoughts. Do you like this approach better? Or do you prefer the old approach?

Just looking into this now. So far I much preferred the old approach. Can you send me an updated link on the new way of doing this?

@dazzatron Just following up looking for an updated link on how to use Zapier the new way. This link you provided in this post is broken - https://help.shotstack.io/en/articles/8820028-how-to-use-zapier-to-create-data-driven-video-at-scale - and anything I can find online or in the help centre is still based on the old way of using Zapier.

We disabled that article for a bit as the Studio layout has changed considerably. It should work now again.

@dazzatron Thank you yes the link is working now for me.

I am stuck though on the part where it says to click the “Use Template” button as there is no “Use Template” button on my editor. Please see screen shots attached for reference. Is there a way around this or a something I am missing to get that button to show up?

Hi @justin,

You’re right—the Studio layout has changed significantly.

I’ve updated the article to reflect how you can use it in the current version of Studio.

Let me know if you run into any issues or if this helps.

Hello. Still having issues. I also emailed you via support about it on the 27th of September and am waiting to hear back.

I have followed the updated article but am still having issues getting a basic Zap to work properly using this new method.

When I create the workflow it has 3 options as mandatory merge fields. IMG is correct as it is the only merge field on my template. However no matter what I see here all 3 trigger data options must be entered on Zapier.

So if I link IMG to “merge” on the workflow and enter the image url on Zapier to merge I still have to enter data for “timeline” and “output” which I have no idea what those are:

When I enter random data on timeline and output and enter the image url on merge to correspond to my workflow I can get it to fire, but the image is not pulling through from Zapier.

Can you or anyone help?
